Leaders of the Orthopaedic Community
Membership in The American Orthopaedic Association is an earned membership that comes at the end of a stringent peer-reviewed process.
The AOA Leadership Principles is an initiative that defines the gold standard for orthopaedic leadership and creates measures of leadership effectiveness in orthopaedics. The Leadership Principles are: Include, Envision, Balance, Orchestrate, and Grow. The AOA Membership Committee is committed to the Leadership Principle of Include in building a diverse membership, creating a caring and inclusive culture, and promoting an equitable environment.
The 2025 Annual Leadership Meeting will take place in Minneapolis, MN, from June 2-7.
Nominations for the 2025 Distinguished Contributions to Orthopaedics Award and the Distinguished Clinician Educator Award are being accepted through December 20, 2024.  Nominate your candidate today!
A dedicated leader of the AOA, Dr. Ghanayem became the 2024-2025 AOA President during the 2024 AOA Annual Leadership Meeting.
One benefit of being an AOA member is your access to a range of orthopaedic leaders across the specialty.
Just like your MD, DO, FACS, or FACSC, you’ve earned the right to use your Fellow of The American Orthopaedic Association (FAOA) credentials. Make sure to use your FAOA credentials in your bio, on your slides at conferences, and in other places that will help you connect with the select members of the AOA.
